Pros

Cornell is full of interesting and smart people. Work is generally challenging and there is adequate recognition for a job well done. The pay and benefits at Cornell are comparable, if not better than the majority of other large employers in the area.

Cons

Your experience will most likely depend on your managers and your immediate group of coworkers. It can be very difficult to get hired, but once you are in the door it is much easier to move to different positions or roles within the university. Parking is expensive and often requires a long walk to your office .

Pros

Departments are very open to grad student exchange and collaboration. Egos are relatively compact. People are brilliant, research facilities are extremely good.

Cons

In the middle of nowhere. Travel times are ridiculous. No decent careers available for spouses, and very little feedback or fertilization from industry. Little contact with political power networks. Tuition is high, which does not affect grad students out of pocket, but certainly puts downward pressure on budgets and available research jobs.
