Pros

Invests in R&D giving the tech. community the opportunity to work on leading edge tech. Lots of challenging/diverse projects (Development), a lot of very bright individuals to work with and learn from.

Cons

Big company politics can get in the way of getting work done, as can bureaucracy. No company is perfect!

Different world for union employees.

Pros

Decent wages considering the area. Job security is all right. Still offers a pension.

Cons

Union employees are treated much worse than company employees. Takes 10 years to get three weeks of vacation. Not much room for advancement. Most union jobs are seven day rotating shifts. No education assistance for union employees unlike company. No work life balance. Treated like a number by most of management. No sick time or paid time off besides 1 week vacation for every 5 years of service.
