Pros

Family-oriented company. Work-life balance. Cheap cost of living.

Cons

Not very merit-based. Advancement ultimately depends on your internal network.

Pros

Flexible hours and people. The people that I worked with were great to be around and helpful when problems arose. The benefits are as good or better than any other employer I've had. They have great resources for improving yourself and investing in your career.

Cons

While I was there, there were 3 re-organizations and 2 re-structurings. These changes had a very negative affect on the moral and reduced productivity. Upper management struggled with the direction of the technology section and good people started to leave the organization.

Pros

This company had great benefits, pretty good union protection, and great pay scale with plenty of room to move about the company. The management was approachable. They would often have company performance reviews and safety meetings so you were always in the know of your own performance and safety requirements.

Cons

There is a certain improvement program that can implement plans for changes around the work environment that employees can submit to. It seems like they rely on that some what too much, and it makes you wonder why some of the ideas are even being listened to. It is also not the most stable work because everything is based on seniority and not ability. I was laid off after just under three months of employment after two consecutive 5/5 ratings on performance reports. More of a downside on the Union though, not the company.
