Pros

I can not think of any reason other than you need money to eat and sleep. They pay you is the only reason I work there.

Cons

Management has littte concern of your personal life. No mentoring or goal setting. I have never received objectives for my job. Does not reward hard work and gives promotions based on longevity not performance

Pros

Corning has a very long history. In order to achieve this, company cares a lot of employee loyalty to the company. This provided relative stable and simple work environment at Corning. Most CCS employees have a very long service history. The management in most cases provided career development opportunities for most employees. During the good time, the growth within the company is pretty good. The salary and benefit of Corning is quite competitive within the industry. Most employees have annual pay increase based on their performance. Layoff is quite limited during the booming years. Job security is expected for a long time.

Cons

This company has a special favor towards former military personnel. This definitely give these people advantage within the company to grow. This also limited development opportunities for other people. Due to the long service time of each employees, the knowledge base will not grow very fast because you will do the same job for a very long time. In normal case, 5 years without any change in job functions is very normal. The product line of the company is very limited. When these limited products are not growing, so is your career. In the recent years, the limited customers have hurt the growth of the business.
