Pros

Great benefits: cheap health insurance, small perks like a stocked kitchen and free lunch on Fridays at the corporate office. There are even benefits to insentivize giving back like PTO to volunteer and double matching of donations. Caring people: There is and has always been a group of incredibly caring, engaged people working at Corvias. In the corporate office a group of people came together spontaneously to start a project to help the homeless. Out on the campuses and bases people really care about their communities. They have spent a lot of time an money developing resources and statements on a company culture. The vision they have is great and there are people who absolutely carry that culture. The reality is not there yet across the company.

Cons

I experienced a lack of clarity and direction all the way through the company. In the time I was there we went through two major shifts in regards to priorities and staffing. I had no clear idea on the company's direction and therefore, very little engagement or investment. I did not have a clear understanding of what my professional priorities should have been or how to meet professional goals. Any direction or management I got was in the form of accountability but never in the form of collaborating to invest in my development as an employee. I would not see my manager until I was called in to hear that I did something wrong. There was a lot of micro-management and a lack of trust and autonomy for individual contributors. Even small things were elevated to team leaders, which led to a lot if inefficiency and an overall lack of trust between employees. Instead of giving direct feedback to colleagues, we were encouraged to go to managers. All of the little perks like free coffee could not make up for the fact that I did not feel like anyone cared if I did well at my job because I was replaceable.
