Pros

They will pay for some higher education expenses and employees would do well to take advantage of that. Tuition reimbursement ($5000 per year) is the best thing Cox has to offer and it helps employees to leave the company for a better position. Cox has a carefully balanced plan to make the work taxing enough that employees are left with little energy to look elsewhere along with paying just enough that they are willing to go on putting up with a lot of BS for quite a long while. A lot of time and energy is spent on PR and lip service is given to diversity and inclusion, but when you look at actions, it is a good old boys club.

Cons

Poor leadership permeates this company. Pettiness is standard. For example, leadership will follow people to the bathroom to validate that they are actually on a bathroom break. There are few opportunities for people who are not related to someone else. Raises are annual and do not keep up with cost of living increases and are not competitive. If you are in a customer facing position, be prepared to accept abuse from customers with a smile and do not expect leaders to treat you with dignity or respect.

Pros

Benefits are decent and coworkers are enjoyable

Cons

Most leadership is great but there are some bad apples and HR does nothing about them. They have a 360 survey but that goes nowhere and honestly if your boss is misbehaving are you going to take the chance of them finding out you provided that feedback? Sad to see leadership blind to the pain these bad apples cause for their direct reports and team.

Pros

Great pay, benefits package is top of the top. For the most part Cox is good people. Worked there two and a half years.

Cons

Loved working there. The first and last time I encountered HR was my only issue.  Full background: I switched to a new medication that would save me $122 a month. The medication had a lot of side effects. I also moved to a new position in the company around the same time. On the Friday in question, I was out the entire day. When I came to on Saturday I had panic attacks and migraines the entire day and into Sunday. I think some of this was due to the initial withdrawals from the medication as I stopped taking it. When my boss asked why I was out, I offered no excuse as I did not feel comfortable discussing it with him and wished to cover it with HR. I was terminated before I did so. I contacted HR and explained the situation and that I have a medical note. I informed her that the termination was unlawful. She refused to even look at or take the note from my doctor siting the communication with my manager that I offered no excuse at that time.
