Pros

Innovation, creative and engineering driven company that will propel someone's career to new heights. Learn new approaches and solutions to long time challenges, open new doors and opportunities for your career. This company has some of the greatest innovation ideas but they are sporadic and only in select products through out the product history. ~20% of the products that Crestron makes are brilliant. The potential here is for extreme excellence. Some of the products here are so fantastic that the entire company trend is upwards because we are willing to overlook the vast number of problems with other parts of their system/products/people/pricing just to use the top innovations.

Cons

There is an irrational belief system that this company is always right, even when the facts say otherwise. On all levels: Crestron products are overpriced. In a few select products there is no equal in performance which does justify the higher price point; but in many categories, this is either an OEM or a similar product to a lower or mid range product at a vastly higher price point. In some (many) cases: Crestron re-brands a mediocre piece of electronic gear and sells it at a high end price. The reason why we put up with this is because overall the advantages of those few unequaled best in class products outweigh the disadvantages of the cost, and performance of the mediocre and lower end ones. People management includes a culture of prejudice and discrimination and almost a fanatic adherence to using and exploiting people and then discarding them. If a few minority employees were to carefully document and compare notes well, they could win a discrimination case. This is not a career position, but just a stepping stone as extremely talented people have been fired for unjust cause(s), and the HR strategy is to churn and burn. If you do not move on: they will move you along one way or another. Familiarity breeds contempt.

Pros

Fun, exciting technology. Great camaraderie among coworkers, cool industry.

Cons

Salary not commiserate with local cost of living, feeling detached from HQ on east coast. Great deal on health care if you are single, but not for families (it was like $50 single, family was like $1200)
