Pros

I loved the people I worked with, great camaraderie. Managers were very knowledgeable and willing to help, which made this job a great learning experience. Partners were motivated to get things done, not a lot of push back on your audit work provided your documentation was good. Travel wasn't too bad (2 months a year) in my group. Good visibility of executive staff - you feel engaged at all levels of the organization. Lots of opportunities for growth - flexibility to move into new areas as you advance your career. You could spend your whole career here if you so desired.

Cons

High staff turnover, as is typical with audit. Quality of engagement staffing was hit or miss. Company was somewhat understaffed when I left meaning teams were always shifting and you were working with new, unfamiliar people from different offices a lot. Local clients are all over Chicagoland, which made for some long commutes on engagements in North Chicago or other outlying suburbs. Hours can get long, as is typical of public accounting.

Good audit firm to start your career

Pros

Lots of experience - smaller audit teams allowed for more interaction with client and full scope involvement with audit than one more often gets working for the Big 4 firms where audit teams are large. Also get access to more clients, rather than one or two. Similar starting salary and benefits as other accounting firms.

Cons

It seemed that pay overtime did not keep up with market and fluctuated significantly between individuals at same level. Note that many of the cons here are the same as any other audit firm - you're going to work a lot and be under a lot of stress, but it's worth it depending on you goals.
