Downhill since merger

Pros

Passionate coworkers, interesting work, hybrid system with meals

Cons

Had a lot of issues that got worse after merger. Horrible communication between the different departments. Contractors weren't being paid in a timely manner. Benefits that got taken away without warning. Horrible communication from upper management. Useless meetings. Business jargon that people see through. Layoffs where middle management wasn't notified who was being let go, which created a massive logjam of work for everyone else. Some longtime employees getting fired due HR to not filing papers correctly. Underpaid compared to the market, but since you love anime, you want to work there. Spending a lot of money on a fancy office, despite workers being underpaid. Hard to get promotions. I've been here a long while and saw the different acquisitions. Each one, the company lost a bit more of its soul. I left when I couldn't take it anymore and immediately found a better paying job with a better title.

Thank you so much for your 4-star rating. We appreciate your balanced review and thoughtful feedback. The layoffs that occurred earlier this year as a result of the acquisition were a difficult experience for all, but our hope is that we can now move forward in pursuit of our goals. We're glad to hear you enjoy the friendly team atmosphere and will raise your feedback about the speed of engineering releases with our senior leadership team. You can also raise future feedback to leadership directly via the open Q & A portion of our monthly All Staff meetings.

Irresponsible leadership concerned with their ego over results

Pros

decent perks and coworkers who like anime

Cons

notice how there’s mostly 1 star reviews sprinkled with vague 5 star reviews? managers here are incompetent and only look to hire for their ego. feels threatened if people have more skill. listen to the reviews here under 3 stars… there’s a reason most people leave after 1.5 years.

We're sorry to hear about your experience during your time with our Marketing team. Coworkers sharing your love of anime is unique and one of the most special parts of being on the Crunchyroll team. We're glad that resonated for you while you were with us. When you have a 1-star experience, it can feel like that must be true for everyone else as well. The reality is that since the acquisition in 2021, the challenges of unification can lead to some 1-star experiences and some 5-star experiences at the same time. We can assure you we are listening and learning and committed to creating as many 5-star experiences as possible.
