Pros

9/80 work week, pretty good medical/dnetal

Cons

With appointment of new CEO Brad Feldmann, 401k maching has gone from 3% to 4% of salary, however profit sharing has gone from a standard 8% salary to varying 2%-9% salary based on profits meaning the total of 11% is unrealistic to expect each year. No guideline was given for what the companies bottom line was needed to attain the original 11%. Routinely 20-30 year employees have been laid off in favor of cheaper options or "cost cutting restructuring". Sick time and vacation time were recently combined to Personal Time Off (PTO) but the number of hours given overall were less. Managers do not care about mentoring young talent and as a result younger employees leave after a few years. Initiatives by the CEO to deliver everything on time or early has causes product quality to slip as well as salary employees to routinely work 13-14 hours with no over time pay. Hourly employees are told not to work overtime to keep costs down. Employees on travel have been encouraged to stay in the least expensive hotels, and take the least expensive flights to save on travel costs. Meanwhile upper management still flies first class with 5 star accommodations.

Pros

You could be the smartest person in the room...

Cons

You could be the smartest person in the room as all of the competent employees have left. The upper management runs a very lean environment, like anorexicly lean and operation never improve; jump from one emergency to the next. On top of that there has been a steady stream of layoffs which really destroys employees' moral.

Doesn't value its employees

Pros

Paycheck. At least for now.

Cons

Management does not value their employees as individual contributors, nor do they trust them or treat them as professionals. Many employees had work-from-home forms submitted and approved by management and we were told that wasn't going to change. But that was suddenly taken away in April, no exceptions. They said face-face collaboration is important. I don't know about collaboration as we had no issue with that being remote, but the current in-person discussions at the office center on the hypocrisy of management and how little they care about employees. If in-person collaboration is so important, why are 80-90% of senior management NOT on the San Diego campus (corporate headquarters) the required days per week? Why are 100% of senior HR not on that campus, or any closest office? Why are we being threatened about return to office rules when the top folks don't follow their own rules? Isn't it important for the PEOPLE RUNNING THE COMPANY TO COLLABORATE IN PERSON too? But they are all listed as home office and exempt from return to office rules. They don't have to suffer long commute times and high fuel prices which further reduce below-average salaries. Recent layoffs of 10% of workforce (mostly long-timers) to keep the doors open, but they are hiring! We can't meet obligations and schedule, but they lay off the people actually doing the work, not the many layers of VPs and other upper management that would save them millions per year. Betcha those upper managers get a fat bonus this year. Management has proven that their word is meaningless. HR is demeaning, condescending and hostile. Their function is to browbeat employees and stand in the way of promotions. Not only is management dishonest with employees, but apparently vendors too. We have vendors refusing service until they are paid. Employee morale is in the toilet and getting worse by the day.
