Pros

- Lots of high graded positions and opportunities for younger GS 13s, 14s, and 15s - Cyber pay can add 25% on top of typical GS pay. Don't have to have a cyber background to get this. - Agency is still building institutional controls, so mission evolves/changes quickly. - There is a very interesting and relevant mission that ranges from cyber vulnerabilities to election security.

Cons

- Institutional controls and united long-range vision is lacking, and senior Agency leadership is ok with bullying behavior. This means that many petty tyrants are developing their own kingdoms and structures built on personality and power plays rather than thoughtful alignment with broader US goals or a real understanding of the implications of their decisions. Maybe they know and don't care, or maybe they are truly lacking long-term vision. Either way, the results are the same: at some point there is going to be a reckoning for CISA when the curtain is peeled back on the effectiveness of its programs. - Leadership has shiny-object syndrome. Priorities shift quickly and people are considered "experts" based on attending two meetings on a topic. It's a bit like a middle-schooler's version of mock government.

Pros

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Agency (CISA) has built a diverse streamlined organizational culture that meets the demands of today’s hybrid workplace environment and focuses on People First.

Cons

In working for a government agency that has a national security focus there is a great amount of pressure to ensure success for the sake of the nation.

Pros

career opportunities - you can easily continue to promote within CISA (entry level to mid senior level).

Cons

their human resources department still developing, therefore, lack the knowledge and skills necessary to take care of their employees
