Pros

The Daf truck range is a highly valued quality product. It makes you proud to be part of building such an amazing product. Good salary and benefits.

Cons

Don't expect change to happen quickly. Daf is a very conservative company, which slowly adapts to new developments. Systems are very old (mainframe from the 70's) and out of date. Improvements are very hard to push through.

Pros

Interesting product in one of the large dutch/american truck corporations. A lot of old and also very experienced colleagues.

Cons

DAF hires their engineers and technicians almost exclusively through detachering agencies. There is a difference in the work conditions between DAF employees and agency workers. A lot of things are not correctly arranged and the agencies tend to speculate and hide things to attract people. In general the holidays are much less, the flexible working time is almost useless. It has to be rounded off by the end of each week. People wait for years and years to recieve a permanent contract by DAF - this is due to the corporate rule that a fixed percentage of people have to work through agencies. This is also why working well or not is not important. The company is so large that unless you are very good at selling yourself and making key friends nobody will notice your contribution. Even if they do they can hardly offer you a contract! Work place can often be chaotic where a lot of people without competence request or claim things that effect your work negatively. It seems that DAF needs a lot of people and often has to hire whoever is available to fill in the positions. You end up easily working with younger people who have little knowledge and interest in the automotive technology.

Pros

Friendly and mainly young colleagues 40 days holiday Location Diversity in terms of nationality and gender is impressive

Cons

Conservative management Hierarchical structure: there are certain rules that you need to follow to bring an issue to a manager Fully booked calendars of managers: I really don't know what they were discussing in their meetings so long
