DHL Express USA is not the place to work right now. Some very bad business decisions made over the last 5 years!

I learned a lot about the express business working there. I got to work in several different areas of the company.

Cons

It was once a great place to work, that was when it was a privately held company. Now it is just BIG business and all about who you know. Not a lot of value placed on long term employees.

Pros

They are starving for great employees to help them out of their current bind. Through Germany, the company has been supported financially, so they have been very fair to salaries and OK with benefits. My boss realized there was more to life than work, so I was able to take time off as necessary. The senior managment IS trying to communicate to their employees, but recently has been more focused on RIF and restructuring than listening/communicating.

Cons

Within the last year, the company has been extremely unprofitable and has been restructuring as best as they can. Career opportunities are horrible unless you jump to a different internal DHL company. Employee morale is low as most people are wondering when they will be RIF'd as well.

None Company is Folding and there is no place else to go.

Cons

Managements lack of leadership and stupidity in assignments.Senior management has no idea what takes place in the operation section of the company. All they know how to do is appoint another vice -president in charge of something. I have never heard of a company that has over 465 vice -presidents
