Mass Layoffs, Cyberattacks, Poor Leadership

Pros

pay is decent for corporate roles but still below market for most

Cons

Make an exit plan if you work here. Currently doing mass, rolling layoffs to try and keep it out of the news. Not offering severance. Great way to treat employees after we just endured months of deception following a massive cyberattack. Leadership waited as long as they could to tell us it was employee data that was stolen, wanted to make sure wireless met the FCC requirement before they fired all of the contractors and then dropped the rest of us. Believe the bad reviews.

Pros

DISH hires folks who have a hard time getting jobs elsewhere. If you are a person who can thrive in a toxic work place, are good at posturing the “DISH Way” to leaders, there is opportunities for growth. Opportunity usually comes at a cost, however.

Cons

-There are no human-centered values at DISH, and they are a company who lives their values! -Things that contribute to DISH’s toxic culture: not human-centered, little to no work from home or hybrid options, hierarchical mentality, a general feeling that everyone is walking on eggshells, no one knows who to trust, many leaders who not true leaders- just “DISH way” proselytizers, no paid maternity leave, benefits are bad, employees feel like they are being watched for compliance with the DISH way (almost a bit cultish), low paying, marginalized folks don’t get promoted past the Director level, problematic leaders don’t get let go- in fact many get promoted etc.

Pros

They provide Free TV, but you have to rent their equipment.

Cons

Never have I worked for a company that worked so hard to convey their utter disdain for their employees. When the pandemic hit, they laid off their employees with 15+ years of experience with only a week's pay, and then posted their jobs a few weeks later. Their culture is based on fear and intimidation. Their policies are in line with their complete distrust of their employees from rigidly enforced core hours, inflexibility towards employees who get injured or sick, and travel policy that requires you to share hotel rooms and provide receipts for every penny spent. In 7 years, I've seen many more people fired than I have promoted.
