Pros

DLA Piper Shanghai office is located in Pudong New Area Lujiazui Financial Center Circle. It's easy to get there by multiple subways, the location is great.

Cons

Very stable working environment and stable working group, some staff have lost their passion and motive of work.

London centric and too much spin at senior management level.

Pros

Lovely department. Friendly atmosphere and good working conditions. Has a really community/family feel when you are in your own department and in the regional offices. IT and IT support is excellent.

Cons

Too London centric. All senior management based in London. They never venture to other UK offices and you’re just a number. It wasn’t like that under Nigel Knowles - the current CEO isn't a patch on him and acts like a dictator. HR is in chaos and there is a high turnover of staff who are dissatisfied with current leaders. Management is constantly sending emails that are spinning the truth. No honesty and many previously loyal and long serving staff leaving. Quite a lot of bullying at management level and they do not care for their staff. It's all a pretence. Worse law firm I've ever worked for in that respect.

Pros

Great benefits. Decent pay to not drown. Remote work is an option that's provided.

Cons

Work life balance makes it impossible to use those great benefits. FMLA is severely frowned upon. Over uses it's 'brand' to mislead new hires into believing there is hope for upward movement. You are overworked, underpaid, passed up for promotions and only as good as your last favor. Good luck asking for a raise. Good luck with the very tight-knit politics. It really is about who you know and not what you know.
