Potential great workplace dependent on which office you join

Pros

Integrated Design Firm with national and international offices that provide opportunities to get involved in many types of projects. Employee owned and option to own stock based on some requirements.

Cons

Hotchpot of bought out architecture firms. There is a central vision and goals but since many of the offices are managed by the very people who got bought out (many older who want to retire with a got stock price), the adaption of vision and forward thinking is lacking in some offices. Mentioned pros are dependent on which office (and office leadership) you join.

Career opportunity? I don't think so...

Pros

- Great culture, good people, integrated design, music in the office, friendly environment - Flexible work schedule, frequent happy hours, employee-owned firm, good benefits

Cons

- Very top heavy firm and below average salaries that may... reach industry's standards after bonuses and profit-sharing. - Lack of project management, QA/QC and organizational structure. Employees are forced to work a lot of overtime hours in order to meet tight deadlines and tiny fees. - Employees are being promoted based on their superficial popularity within the firm and not their actual contributions or valuable skill-set they bring in. Therefore, having a title in this firm doesn't mean anything. - Even though the top management has an open-door policy to the firm's financials and overall group's performance, it maintains a very distant approach when it comes to employee's development and individual performance. - Over the last couple years, the firm hired a lot of BD people with big and short-term dreams who gradually offset the value of the good and well-respected employees. - The constant stress from the leadership about the firm's growth and future potential drives employees who want to have just a stable job out of their safe/comfort zone.

Pros

Consistant work mainly on k-12 projects and higher ed. Some people are really great while some other long term employees create a toxic gossip environment.

Cons

Very low pay with mediocre benefits plan. Lack of transparency. Top heavy office. Toxic, office politics.
