Easy job

Pros

Always an opportunity to work as much overtime as you want; easy job. There's a lot of great people that work there.

Cons

Say their wages are competitive with other local businesses, when in actuality most other local businesses start out at what you max out at. Management has the "that's how it is or there's the door" attitude. Have a high turnover rate. There is no incentive for employees to stay. Morale is low. Instead of employees coming to work because they like their job, they just show up for a paycheck. There's very little communication from management to floor associates. This is the third company change in the last 10 years; kind of makes you uneasy about coming in one day and not having a job.

Too much favoritism

Pros

UTi is a cutting edge company where employees are free to learn and grow. Employee input is used in developing processes used in operations making for a more user friendly work environment.

Cons

The promotion process is generally a popularity contest and many of the higher paying jobs go to friends and family of current managers or supervisors even when they are brought in off the street. This practice has proven to be detrimental to the health of the branch that I work at.

Good riddance.

Pros

Staff-friendly amenities - fruit baskets each week, bagels each end of week, luncheons on special occasions, desks have elevated options to switch from sitting to standing position and vice versa. Socialist, Scandinavian benefits and vacation time - founded and headquarters in Denmark. Option to work/transfer to national and/or international offices.

Cons

Very poorly managed (in some cases mismanaged altogether), lack SOP's for some accounts/trade lanes. Created a hostile environment over time. Constant changes and occasional staff turnover, poor training programs. Inundated email in-box, every member in the department stays in copy to emails regardless of whether or not it has to do with your own desk responsibilities, which interferes with a concentrated desk. Zero opportunity for vertical growth. All heads are Danish appointed colleagues.
