Management wants scheduling based on the minimum the state requires regardless of workload, patient acuity or neediness or number of CVCs. Between CMS & DHEC regs, documentation and education expectations and DAVITA initiatives, the RNs often do not feel like they practice effectively or safely or even as nurses at all. The team verbalized they often can’t keep up and burn out. Turnover is pretty constant. Patients are often unhappy or frustrated. The situation never seems to improve regardless because decisions are made by upper level people with no boots on the ground.
