Pros

Leadership is constantly working to improve the culture and investing in their employees and business. Very good at taking in feedback and responding relatively quickly. Highly communicative and friendly environment. Things move quickly and there are not a lot of unnecessary processes. The office is centrally located and provides great lunches, parking, and health care (all paid in full). They also seem to be very secure financially (profitable and without outside investors needed). Been here for almost one year and love coming in every day.

Cons

Like many small companies there isn't a lot of protocol. If you like to have processes for everything and all things "figured out", so you can just focus on your primary job, this place is probably not for you. If you like the idea of impacting and shaping a role and culture, there is that ability here. There is a lot of room for growth and an ability to make change, and change seems to happen quickly.

Pros

-The employees are a very bright bunch- the owners have high standards and hire well -The office space is bright, airy and modern and is centrally located in lovely downtown Santa Barbara

Cons

-A healthy work/life balance is not a priority here -You are not awarded for impactful or excellent performance -Breaks are not encouraged -No benefits besides healthcare -Zero snacks -The owners are married and on some days seem to despise each other. None of my business, but it’s kind of a bummer and sets the vibe for the whole company

Pros

- You are given the freedom to research and develop different opportunities, but that time is not scheduled into your day. - The CEO (Scott) is an inspired entrepreneur, so if you are someone that has many ideas (particularly in analytics, coding, and technical innovation) you will probably have a great time with him. He is very knowledgable but sometimes getting that information from him is challenging. - The freedom and trust that you are given as a digital marketer is pretty great. If you are all about ad optimization then you will get to delve into that. - You are totally thrown into the deep-end, which I think is a fantastic way to become an exceptional digital marketer (but you might get some grey hairs from the stress). - If you back-up an idea with real-world data, you can get a lot done here (not data from the internet). - The digital set-up and their in-house tools are exceptional, and there is a ton of opportunity there if you like user interfaces and data management. - The respect in this company for digital marketing is exceptional, and they have great processes and technical know-how. - If you like to be entrepreneurial and innovative, and aren't afraid to work with large amounts of raw data (and know what you're solving with it), you are head strong about what you want to achieve, and you communicate that really clearly and assertively, I think you could have a great time at Daily OM. - I always felt excited in the mornings before work, and got great fulfillment from creating ads that I was proud of and that performed well. - If you are verbal enough about it, you can be recognized for your effort!

Cons

- No real way to plan your week or month, its all based on the previous days results. - Management choices are often little unusual within the digital marketing department, so try not to rely on them for guidance or support. Be your own person here. - You cannot separate work from life as their in-house marketing platform needs to be managed even on weekends from home (maybe about 10 mins-1 hour each day of the weekend depending on how many ads you're managing/testing). If you don't do this, your numbers will take a hit. - Check your co-workers work where possible especially if you do any analytics. Ads must be named correctly to get accurate data insights so you do that now or suffer down the road. Trust, but validate - no matter who's doing it. Everyone benefits from this. - Can be restrictive within marketing, and difficult to propose ideas surrounding organic and SEO, as the relation to revenue is indirect. - It can be hard to measure your own performance, but they might be changing that. When I was there there were no reviews or feedback which was honestly the biggest issue for me - with no feedback, there cannot be personal/professional growth. - Time off around Dec/Jan is a big no-no. - You will need to be an exceptionally strong communicator to do well here, if you have patience and understanding but are happy to reiterate your point in many different ways until you are heard, it will go far better. This can be exhausting for many people so bare that in mind.
