Pros

Can stay with a company and make a career with longevity. Good benefits, opportunity to promote in different areas.

Cons

Political leadership can change every 4 years. Elected official does not always equal good leadership. Salaries are not competitive with private sector and raises are not often. No bonus structure or incentive plans. Health insurance increases with pay raises.
