Great people, poor pay

Pros

Working with dedicated people who genuinely want to help Dallas county citizens; guaranteed pension plus voluntary retirement available; daytime business hours with weekends, holidays off

Cons

Typical government bureaucracy; very low pay compared to similar positions in the private sector; more emphasis on attendance than on quality work; requiring salaried employees to clock in/out with zero leeway on "tardiness"

Pros

The 200 % retirement contribution is great but who wants to be miserable all of those years.

Cons

High turn over, stressful, no employee appreciation.

Pros

Lots of opportunity to deal directly with troubled youth and their families. Decent pay for the most part, great co-workers and dedicated staff.

Cons

Poor management- many of them have egomaniacal tendencies . Hard to get supplies or support at times. Only three call offs a year, plus a stay-over list that can be overwhelming if you have other obligations
