Pros

40 Hour work week 200% match on retirement (Mandatory 7%)(AFTER 10 years service) Paid Holidays(11 total if you count your personal holiday)

Cons

10 year vesting period No commission, bonuses, profit sharing (Govt DUH) Little to no access to new tools/information Little communication between departments Leadership has many power trips weekly Cliques (Many old folk who have lazily worked for the coutny over 30 years and reach out to elected officials personally to have their way) Leadership does not communicate (To teams or to each other) Systems (Time keeping, Job website etc.) are old, out dated and timekeeping is done like hourly but for slaried employees. Flex time is non-existent. During with my time with the county, I have learned that leadership will use any form of cooperate/mental combat to save themselves. Like throwing you under the bus for not cleaning up their mess. It is like walking into a bad situation where everyone is in a club and you will never be in it. I would not recommend anyone make the poor decision to work for Dallas County unless you are absolutely desperate for lack luster pay, lazy coworkers, and unaccountable management. The organization who's "Core Value" is Diversity & Inclusion, yet 60% of the workforce is one race. no, you will not be able to work from home when a major storm hits the entire county. No, you cannot use sick time to help the child you birthed or the family member you care for. FMLA claims are fraudulent at the county and they no longer provide adequate service in a timely manner to allow one to take FMLA.
