      Pros

      I work in Darigold's corporate headquarters in Seattle, and I really appreciate several things about this company. The thing I like the best is that Darigold supports a healthy work-life balance. While this may not be true of all departments (I don't have a lot of experience with the plant staff.) the department that I work in is very flexible if I have a life event that requires an adjustment of my daily schedule. Another thing that I like is the feeling that I get of being a part of a local institution. Whenever I tell people that I work for Darigold, the response has always been positive. I also like the 401k matching contributions and the ORCA card benefit that saves me a ton of money on my commute using the Sound Transit and Metro Bus systems. I enjoy the diversity of the people that I work with. Though every barrel has a bruised apple or two, the team here at Darigold is mostly made up of solid, motivated individuals who care about providing value to the Farmer/Owners and working well with other employees.

      Cons

      Because this is a very low margin industry, and Darigold is wholly owned by the Northwest Dairy Association, this is not the place to work if you are looking for a high paying, cutting edge, glamorous IT career. Darigold tries to pay a reasonable wage, but cannot compete in the salary area with the boiler rooms or meat grinders of Seattle's high-tech workplace. That being said, the atmosphere and work-life balance at Darigold make up for what is lacking in the pay scale. I, and the team I work with, put in an average of 40-45 hours per week, and, because we are a great team of qualified and motivated professionals, we manage to get our work done in that amount of time.

      Management dont care about employees on the production floor. They think they are better than us. They don't communicate with us

      Pros

      Overall, my experience at Darigold was positive. They have an excellent company culture that focuses on making the environment safe for workers while delivering a clean, high quality product to customers. I had the chance to shadow a number of different employees at Darigold and I really enjoyed the chance to see many different aspects of dairy production. Because my position is fairly new, the plant seemed a little unprepared for me. In the future, I would appreciate a more structured role with a greater amount and variety of projects.
