Company has potential to go places but upper management seems to hold that back
Pros
Lots of good people who are not management there. Smart, driven people. Lots of small social parties with free food and beer that really help you get to know people and really develop good working relationships. Free Gym membership as long as you go 8 times a month. When corporate challenge rolls around everyone really gets into and the company comes together to have fun. Depending on what you do and who you work for, you can really learn a lot from people.
Cons
No 401 K matching. CEO mentioned that it would cost them too much money to implement. Pay for Parking. This really sucks as you have no choice but to park in a lot or a deck downtown. Upper Management here plain sucks. None of them communicate with their people and certainly not anyone in the company. This makes last minute things come about or last minute projects happen with little wiggle room for deadlines. They only really care about their own items they have to get done with little regard to other people who they have to involve. Plenty of micro management with unrealistic deadlines. Very little respect is given and not much appreciation is shown. Set in their ways with no desire to listen to employees to change what is not working. Image,image, image. This company is really image driven. Everything they do is to make themselves look good. Make it seem like it's the best work environment around. That's what is always presented. Behind the scenes it's not the case. They spend lavishly in my opinion and the future stability of company is always something I worried about. Once they get big enough they maybe bought out. Many departments do not communicate. I could be frustrating at times to have old information communicated or try to track down who was responsible for things. Your time is never your time, it's always someone else's. You can never get projects done because you are working on someone else's project that their boss asked them to do. Since you can't get your project done, there goes a mark against your quarterly goals which affects your raise/bonus. Really there is plenty of great people there. Lots of fun to work with and to learn from. Unfortunately DSI's backwards culture makes it a place you cannot stay long term.
