Pros

Databricks hires the best in the industry. You get to work with exceptionally talented and friendly people. Product is top notch and product teams are delivering at a level I've not seen it other tech companies. Leadership is transparent and CEO is exceptionally open and honest. Culture still has a start-up style atmosphere and massive growth means people can progress their careers more easily.

Cons

Work-life balance is sometimes tricky, but they are pretty open about it during recruitment. It's not a 9 to 5 job, but no one is pushing you to work ridiculous hours either. Change is rapid and processes are still forming and might change. If you like a stable working environment, Databricks is not it.

Pros

Good product Certain teams are great to work with, but again highly team-dependent Forkable lunches and monthly fitness stipend

Cons

Politically-driven environment where advancement is based more on office politics. The sales team generally (highest levels are good, but RVPs and below could use work) is the most entitled group I've ever encountered (having worked in both startups and FAANG), consistently pushing unnecessary extra work onto other teams while they do little else but complain about feedback time. They escalate trivial issues to senior leadership at the drop of a hat, creating unneeded chaos. The company's chances of going public in the next few years are slim despite its size, and the "unlimited PTO" policy is iffy — you’ll fight for any time off and be made to feel guilty by your departmental heads if you take more than a few weeks. Constant weekend and evening work that contributes to serious burnout impacting both your professional and personal life. If you're looking for balance or a healthy work culture, look elsewhere.
