Pros

Opportunity to work in fast-growing market (Cloud, DevOps) Customers love the platform

Cons

High turnover — reps without an install base are not hitting targets Product is designed for companies running next-gen technology stacks, not legacy environments (i.e. enterprise) Crowded space — established incumbents and other startups are competing across all products (infra monitoring, APM, logging) Leadership demands fast, transactional deals even in large, complex companies with multiple incumbent tools. Expect to be micromanaged Limited marketing beyond events and blog No channel ecosystem or alliances strategy

Pros

I read some of the previous reviews and Datadog does seem to have it's areas that need improvement but let's be real, what company doesn't? These reviewers are measuring Datadog to some fictional ideal standard of an impossible company that does not exist anywhere and complaining that their needs are not met. Like come on, if you have your cake, you don't get to complain that you can't eat it too. Chances are, you're a millennial still young in your career, thinking you're a hot shot and barking that any company would be lucky to have you but the minute you don't get your way, instead of taking challenging professional experiences and turning them into grit and learning opportunities, you go online and write a slanderous review as if that anonymous "control" will boost your ego knowing that you "stuck it to them." Let's see how many reviews you leave before you learn that your job is more than your paycheck - it's about learning to develop a company, changing culture for the better and believing in your product. - Generous employee benefits (catered lunch, fully stocked kitchen, unlimited PTO, health benefits) - Established enough as a startup to provide resources towards new areas of company growth - Managers don't micromanage, trust you to do your job and give feedback and coaching if you ask - Generally all employees I've come across are chill enough that I'd hang with them after 5p - Steller city view and open office layout

Cons

- Echoing another review, no nap pods but cold brew on tap soo... - Office culture does vary significantly from one location to another as Sales dominated Boston will be louder and amped while Engineering dominated NY will be quieter and chill (not really a con, just a fact) - Team culture is heavily dependent on your director. Mine is great but I do understand other teams' dynamic might be more challenging - Boston office is freezing most of the time but probably won't be complaining when its 100 degrees outside in the summer

Pros

The product is good albeit terribly expensive. Documentation is expansive. Starting salary and initial offer were good. They fly you to NYC for onboarding.

Cons

- Maybe different teams have different experiences but the premier services organization is a joke. Internal quote “why not get paid for what we are already doing”. That’s your corporate leadership from a skyscraper overlooking the world struggling to pay rent. - The manager to employee ratio felt 1:1 in a bad way. Why they need so many managers is beyond me. They say work life balance but if your metric is 120%+ then see you later. They celebrated this poor girl for being 350% coming out of onboarding…she worked hard no doubt and deserved it…but it also says “the rest of you not giving us a free 250%….and then they legit fire people under that whole at-will garbage”. - They’re goals and metrics shift and are not well defined. - They mask their corporate-ness is this “we care” culture. They care…about taking your money and soul. They don’t have a concept on what the modern tech landscape is with tech moving into the “normal world”. It’s where they’ll fail. The idea that they can continue being software engineers and communicate with an average person. They frustrate customers regularly with their formulaic responses.
