Pros

-Good benefits -Seemed transparent -I do believe executive team cared about employees -The product truly is best in class

Cons

If you are a true CSM, stay away. This place is a sales shop. All metrics are sales based. Customer Success falls under the sales org. You will be told your job is to manage customers, but when end of month comes, all that matters is your pipeline. There is also zero team support for the team that owns the smaller growth accounts. You are not supposed to be technical, but when any technical questions come up, there is zero technical support for your clients because they are not valuable enough. On top of that, you have 300-500 accounts, so working less than 65 hours per week is impossible. If you like sales, this job will be great for you. If you want true Customer Success, do not apply. Also the micromanagement is real. Updates are asked for multiple times per day. Expectations are completely unrealistic. There is absolutely no work/life balance.

Immature management

Pros

Great product, great engineering peers and great culture. From an engineering standpoint, this is a great place to be. It's gratifying to see the company grow at such a rapid clip. Execs have also demonstrated that they actually care for employee well-being as well as social causes while still focusing on keeping the business successful. Great job execs.

Cons

Immature low level management is pervasive. While the execs have tried to bring transparency to career development, line management will impose their own requirements to be evasive. There's a lot of work and if you show initiative and progress, your natural expectations of being appreciated will be squashed. Very low diversity, even in engineering. Women tend to leave at a much faster clip.

Thank you for sharing your candid feedback, and we're sorry that this is the culture you've experienced at Datadog as that's not what we strive for within our Engineering department. We're actively launching manager trainings across the company to help better arm our leaders with the tools to grow successful teams and individuals, and we believe these trainings will help to teach great leadership practices moving forward. We appreciate you taking the time to leave this review so that we can address these topics with our leaders as we continue working to build a more inclusive workplace.

Pros

-Amazing product and company. Very easy to sell when it’s the right fit and a hugely growing market -Ramping period for new reps

Cons

-No defined territories makes for a war zone for accounts between reps -Reps who meet quota off of inbounds are praised for hitting their number -Big “bro culture” which leads to lack of professionalism and ZERO diversity across the sales floor -About 20% of reps are hitting their yearly quota, only a small portion of that 20% are able to hit it year over year
