Pros

-Decent benefits (fully paid healthcare, catered lunches/dinners, compensation if you negotiate) -Some really accomplished co-workers who are fun to be around -If you love Twitter and breaking news, this is the place to be

Cons

-For a start-up, my department is super hierarchical. -There is very little room for growth and advancement. Promotions and raises are not always commensurate with how much each individual contributes to the team. They seem to prioritize cultural fit and who is likely not to leave the company. -Management will often ask team members to do a 180 on work schedules. Scaling as a start-up is hard, but work/life balance is important. -Zero (!) engagement with CEO/CSO Conclusion: My experience has been somewhere in between the five-star reviews and one-star reviews.

Pros

Free food, free health benefits, flexible work schedule

Cons

The amount of FAKE reviews on here are amusing. Lots of fake reviews that are encouraged by HR and the executives. The co-workers are nice here but that's about it. Very dysfunctional, hierarchical organization with no room for advancement so if you're looking for growth opportunities, look elsewhere. Their definition of "growth" relies heavy on recruiting and increasing head count but no one knows if the product actually works (like a previous person mentioned). Very little transparency between the CEO and the rest of the company.

Dataminr Response

It’s an exciting time in Dataminr’s trajectory - Dataminr is growing rapidly and structures are increasingly important to help Dataminr reach its next level of success. Lots of opportunity is being created at this time. We are thrilled to be able to promote so many strong internal candidates, and to invest in the professional development of our team members, while also hiring individuals from other organizations with valuable expertise to help take us forward. I encourage you to talk with your manager about your own career aspirations, professional development within the company, and funds available to you for skill building. Please also use the opportunities created by regular all hands meetings to ask any open questions, or come talk to our People team, who are always available to you.

Pros

• Free catered lunches (and tons of free snacks)! • Cold brew coffee and Kombucha on tap! • Everyone is excited about Dataminr’s product and the company! • A brand new 2017 MacBook Pro 13 (because technology that works great = more productive employees) • Hiring like crazy!

Cons

• NYC office is bursting at the seams, and phone booths are temporary fixes (should be scouting for new office space)
