Pros

* Differentiated technology platform with real-time intelligence capabilities, particularly in the physical security and threat detection space

Cons

* Frequent leadership changes have made it difficult to maintain consistent strategic direction * Company initiatives often reset before prior efforts fully mature, creating execution gaps * Senior leadership structure can feel top-heavy, which at times slows decision-making and accountability * Market positioning in cybersecurity may not be as strong or clearly differentiated as competitors * Organizational changes have led to disruption and uncertainty for employees during transition periods * In some cases, expectations during the hiring process did not fully align with the day-to-day reality of the role * Strategic messaging is strong, but execution and follow-through can lag behind stated priorities

Pros

Work life balance is amazing. Camaraderie can be found depending on the department. Product is interesting.

Cons

Dataminr has a serious issue with pay, career progression, and career pathing. Those things only occur when an employee is a "favorite child" or has stuck around the company long enough to watch your boss leave the company. It's a well documented issue amongst leadership and broader employee base, but nothing has been done to address it beyond empty platitudes. I've seen about a dozen people in my 40-person department turnover due to finding higher-paying jobs that offer actual development. It just feels like the CEO has decided to mask mediocre compensation for Managers and below as "industry standard", leaving Directors to deal with constant complaints from their employees.

Thank you for the candid feedback and for calling out Dataminr's strengths like work–life balance, team camaraderie, and the amazing nature of our product. The concerns you raise about pay, career progression, and career pathing are important and critical to a fair and engaging employee experience. While this characterization does not reflect the standards leaders expect or the systems put in place at Dataminr, it is a reminder that perception and lived experience matter and must be addressed through clearer communication and more visible processes. We remain focused on providing equitable opportunities for advancement and compensation grounded in role expectations, performance, and market data rather than informal perceptions; ensuring market competitiveness at all levels of the organization. If you have specific concerns you’d be open to sharing, we encourage you to reach out directly to your People Team Business Partner, so we can better understand your experience and continue improving.
