Not so "American" Axle

Pros

American company, but American Axle is becoming less and less American everyday. The work is challenging, the environment is good, but it is not for a family-oriented person. American axle does invest in their employees as far as training, certifications, and schooling.

Cons

Long hours expected and often not compensated. Management often cuts salary and hourly workforce, and those left behind are expected to pick up all the work. This is not conducive to keeping your best employees. The best employees eventually figure out this trick and also figure out that there are better companies out there.

Pros

Technologies and processes are very mature with regards to manufacturing and mechanical engineering. Work life balance is great in my area. Benefits for dental, vision and health are acceptable.

Cons

Remote work is abused by few engineers. Overselling DEI. Poor collaboration within engineering teams and managers. No clear direction, goals or initiatives from Directors and Executive Directors. Poor transparency. Lack of opportunities for career development, no clear path for advancement.

Management is extremely poorly run, Plant manager is completely clueless, supervisors change monthly, cooperate cant control the environment, and always lying.
