Pros

I got paid. It was remote. I had a good boss and worked with a handful of nice people.

Cons

You will be overworked and underpaid like no other. It’s a call center that cares about metrics more than anything else. Genuinely, cannot understand the 4 start. DO NOT WORK HERE.

Pros

My direct manager and team were very nice and flexible. Was able to use PTO as needed (under certain conditions) and manager understood when personal things came up. Working remotely is a huge plus.

Cons

Admissions is basically a sales position without commission. You have to make 100 calls a day and try to persuade people to apply and join the school. Your calls are observed and everything is metrics based. It is very clear that the school only cares about making money from students instead of actually caring for them. Working with a student feels like a sales transaction. This is NOT a traditional advising role. Also, you work closely with other departments but no one is on the same page and different people are held to different standards. I would only recommend this type of job to someone who is okay with a sales-centered role and with pressure to produce. Research for-profit schools and understand how they run before joining.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and for highlighting the flexibility of the remote work environment and the support you received from your manager and team. We recognize that the Admissions Advisor role is highly structured and performance-driven, and that this approach may not align with everyone’s expectations or how individuals define advising or student support. Being clear about the nature of the role is important to us, and feedback like this helps inform how we continue to set expectations and support our teams. We appreciate your perspective and wish you the best moving forward.

Pros

Wonderful leadership who is quick to recognize hard work. No one minds working hard when you know your efforts are noticed.

Cons

Some managers do not also teach so they are missing out on first hand experience with the current student and political environments. My manager DOES teach at least one class so she is able to completely understand what it is like to be a faculty member especially in these changing times where the role of AI in higher education is just being established.
