Pros

-Great colleagues and manager -Remote Work

Cons

I want to say first that l enjoyed working with so many personable colleagues who didn't mind stopping to help when they could. Unfortunately, l felt guilty asking for assistance when my colleagues were so overworked and quite sadly, overwhelmed. I was not at all prepared for this role even though training was provided. I felt a bit blindsided and hurt when l realized the emphasis placed on metrics. I was under the impression that advisors would be able to control their own outreach and get an adequate amount of time to reach out to their own students. Unfortunately, the time allotted was not enough to work the list that management provided and then foster what little creativity the job had to work your own. Ironically, your outreach time is what counts to meet metrics, but inbound calls are filled with students who really need support. We are graded on inbound calls critically if we don't hit certain points, but those calls aren't included in the metrics. Moreover, there is little down time to absorb training materials once you are out of training, and the floor is just a breeding ground for oversights due to being shell shocked, especially if you are new. If we stayed on the phone to hear a story of a student suffering from one thing or another, that isn't celebrating fully. The only thing that counts in a call is a agenda. What happens when an advisor is told they are inadequate? Should they just take a 10 minute break and hop back into ready? I think some of the support staff is crying for help here, and who will hear their cries? Who?
