      A very mixed bag

      Pros

      5 weeks PTO, 16 weeks family leave; opportunities for broad exposure; generally intelligent, considerate, and committed peers.

      Cons

      - Very much a "look at me" culture. - If you don't kiss up (*ahem* - "network/show your brand"), then no one at Senior Manager or Principal/Managing Director cares about you except as you affect their bottom line. - The combination of the two above results in some relatively incompetent self-promoters who promote quickly. - The firm considers "leadership" to be a combination of bringing in more money/managing more revenue with going through the motions of expected management practices. - Disingenuous salesman-y managers, senior managers, and principals/directors generally means unpleasant work for the people who actually have to do it.

      Pros

      Phenomenal place to launch your career! Deloitte's internal learning programs enable practitioners to gain the knowledge and skills needed to outperform other consulting firms.

      Cons

      Poor work-life balance. Deloitte works better for those who are single with no children. Aside from client work, you're also expected to contribute to internal initiatives to advance the firm's capability offerings. This is where practitioners become drained and burned out.

      Pros

      Looks good on your resume. Also, hones up your acting skills. Great benefits. Tax has the potential to be what the rest of the firm is.

      Cons

      Politics, back-stabbing, and a lot of old timers who do not deal well with change that sabotage any new comers. No collaboration. Everyone is on their own side. No progress. No trust. No team work. It's like kindergarten for orphans. Partners have favorites, favorites do hardly any work and throw everyone else under the bus. Management have no real positive leadership skills. Everyone walks on eggshells. I've never seen anything like it. Very disappointing. Better to just play along and not raise any issues. When you let them know the emperor has no clothes, it's you who has the problem and your life will become miserable.
