Pros

They give you a lot of vacation time You can work from home when you are not busy Flexibility in schedule- offer reduced schedule options You learn a lot about different businesses Great job for the first two-three years after college Potential to gain exposure to a variety of industries Work with different people and teams so you never have the same boss for very long

Cons

You can't take most of the vacation time really long hours during busy season, and often into early summer long time to make partner, if you make partner experience depends on the people directly above you on your teams can be stressful and challenging in the last few years resources have been overly strained as too many employees were layed off, require employees to juggle too much work in recent years raises have been minimal to non-existant in recent years the firm has cut back on meals/drinks/parties so morale is suffering

Pros

You work in everchanging teams for a lot of clients. Usually the responsibility you have to take from day one on the job is a lot higher than for other competing Big Four companies, giving you an excellent learning enviroment.

Cons

You work a lot of hour, there are per definition no overhours. Everything you worked more than the minimum amount of chargable hours flows into your bonus calculation (and effectively raising it), but usually the Bonus is less than a months salary. Thus instead of being a bonus it is a bad overhour compensation.

Pros

The firm is highly committed to people development -- personal and professional. There was a rough transition period during the 2002-2003 time period (particularly in Chicago), when transferring Andersen professionals outnumbered legacy Deloitte folks. However, the resulting blend of the two cultures has made Deloitte a real powerhouse and enabled the firm to make some major strides that would not have been possible but for the combination

Cons

Politics...which is unavoidable in an organization of that size. But, still, it can be extremely difficult to recover if you end up on the wrong side of a power struggle. For the most part, competency usually prevails, but not always.
