Pros

As a consultant you can set your own hours if you work from home, you get to work with a variety of great people internally and externally.

Cons

I have never worked for a company where you never know if you will have a job at the end of the quarter.

Pros

Nice peers and immediate supervisors. Ability to forge long term relationships. Looks good on the resume. Gives a lot of valuable skills.

Cons

A huge job creator... In the Philippines. 2 major layoffs in the US within 3 months - mid-November 2012 - 100+ employees axed and mid-January 2013 - 100+ more people were let go. Severance benefits - until the 30's of the month of the lay off - that is for 2 weeks after the date of the lay-off. Do not believe HR propaganda about education benefits - they do not exist. If you are trying to get a certificate/degree and get reimbursed by Deltek afterwards - forget about it - 99.5% that your manager will tell you that "This is not in the budget for this year." A lot of secrecy and politicking between Director level management and above. A lot of CYA attitude. Do not believe that your tenure with Deltek will provide for more job security. Surprisingly - more time you spend with them makes you more vulnerable. The Executives' logic is simple - he is more experienced, therefore more expensive to keep. We would rather can him and hire a person in the Philippines to do his job 12 hours per day for $200 per month (if that). Poor benefits - health and otherwise.

Pros

There are flexible working hours and most Deltek employees work remotely from a home office. Deltek doesn't focus on a 9-5 mentality.

Cons

As other reviewers have identified, Deltek has lost focus and ability to deliver product to market. Part of the issue is old technology - they have never taken the time to address an outdated, bloated database structure or other product issues that will prohibit them from market growth. The larger issue is their relentless focus on outsourcing work to the Phillipines. They lay off employees with long tenure and replace them with offshore workers. There was a layoff of 100+ employees in November 2012 and another layoff of 100+ in January 2013. Many of the employees that were let go will be replaced by offshore counterparts with less experience and knowledge. Deltek has experienced quarterly layoffs for years but the more recent ones have been substantially larger and have appeared to target those with longer tenure. Finally, Deltek does not believe in investing in it's people. They do not offer career paths, training or educational support. It's a place to collect a paycheck, not a place where you are excited about the product or the company.
