Pros

Great co-workers, good vacation policy

Cons

President and CEO no longer is participating in much, New senior managers are too new at managing and do not know how to run the company well yet and feels like they are only out for themselves, anything good happening is done in background by employees who are amazing but don’t get much recognition, much went downhill once company was bought out by an oversees company few years ago, very much a corporate feel, Poor employee training in some departments. Many great people leaving who have been at company a long time, because those who break their neck training and mentoring do not get compensated enough and aren’t recognized for their work. Long travel hours to boring locations with long hours onsite. Employees have to pay for own parking first 10 years

Pros

Dennis Group is growing fast, which means that you can learn a lot in a short period of time. Also you can gain responsibility quickly as long as you show some initiative. Your career can move quickly if you want it to. It's a great group of people, and it's interesting to work/interact with people from different disciplines. Realistically people come to work to see their coworkers, less so to do a particular job, though I definitely do enjoy mine. Because the company is changing so much, you can really have an effect on the future of the company. A rare opportunity to actually make a dent. It's a 30 year old company that is finally becoming modern, and it's fun to be part of building that new culture. The company is thriving. We have tons of work. In 2 years of working here, I've never been bored. There are a lot of employees that have been here 10, 20+ years which is very encouraging. No micromanagement. I'm happy with my pay, and my peers seem satisfied with theirs. Benefits are fine. Open vacation policy is a huge plus.

Cons

Some of the pros above have their downsides. Because the company is growing quickly, it can be difficult to efficiently assimilate new hires. Change is uncertain, and not everyone can deal with that. I personally find it exciting, but there is some grumbling from coworkers that have been here a long time. We have tons of work, but that can mean tons of working. Having managers that have been here for 30 years might mean that they've never worked anywhere else before (or not much and a long time ago) and don't have much perspective on how other companies do business or what new employees might expect. No micromanagement can also mean no direction if you're inexperienced or aren't particularly self-directed. This all means, that working here requires you to have a lot of initiative and have a plan for your self. You'll be thrown in the deep end which is both good and bad. This is all slowly changing though, and I believe we'll keep improving.

Pros

I may have to think longer about this.

Cons

Management is rude and disrespectful. Lead Architects are bullies. You have to be in their good side to move up in the company, in other words: kiss a... Your work is not valued. There is no room for growth. Insurance benefits are not good. The office environment is awful. A lot of office belittlement.

We are sorry to hear your experience with Dennis Group has not been positive. We value the feedback of all team members and take your comments seriously. We appreciate that clearly defined career growth opportunities are important and are actively working to bring more transparency into this area. As an entrepreneurial minded firm, we have historically steered clear of using titles and tightly prescribed job descriptions. We recognize that the absence of these elements can sometimes leave team members feeling like they are not progressing. To address this concern, we are publishing career paths, enhancing our mentoring program, and encouraging more career-oriented dialog. We want all team members to be growing and feeling valued. As a professional services firm, our people are our number one asset. With regard to benefits, and insurance specifically, Dennis Group offers a very competitive benefits plan. We review our benefits on an annual basis and have consistently found that our offerings generally exceed those offered by many of our peers. We encourage those interested in joining Dennis Group to inquire about our offerings and decide for yourself.
