Unethical HR Team

Pros

My instructor was fantastic. He was not associated with the business side and truly seemed to care that we learned material. I did learn a ton. They did create opportunities for those in my cohort.

Cons

HR - Following a required medical leave I was required to leave my client placement, given an ultimatum resign immediately or sit unpaid. When I raised questions on my contract/bench pay and a documented explanation the HR team immediately began to paper my file, ignored and hid my complaints of discrimination, and ultimately laid me off with an email predated with no follow up. They chose to end my benefits immediately with no explanation, and refused to provide any documentation. I would avoid this team and there senior management completely. A difficult time was made much more difficult due to the employer. Training - Background in coding I would say is required. A large portion of my cohort had CS degrees, only two had no experience coding and one failed out. I worked 60+ hours a week at times to complete everything. The placement process was convoluted and it was clear not everyone would get placed. Pay/Benefits - The benefits are terrible, I live in a larger city and there are only two in network primary care providers. Pay is terrible and any pay raises are specifically not guaranteed.

Pros

Dev10 offers an amazing training and overall great mentorship. I can confidently say I've been given the right tools to continue on my career transition into software development.

Cons

Dev10 struggled to find employment opportunities for it's associates and went through two big rounds of layoffs. While there's nothing they can do about the market, some transparency would've been nice to have about the state of the company. I survived the first round of layoffs and was told that it meant those of us remaining had nothing to worry about. 3 months later the 2nd round of layoffs got me with no warning. Considering that the associates are locked into a 2 year contract with $600/week pay, it would've at least been helpful to know things were shaky with the company and be given the option to consider employment opportunities elsewhere in the event of layoffs. This was an especially unfortunate way to go about things when you consider some associates relocated to new cities on the promise of soon-to-come employment.
