Pros

good benefits, competitive pay scale

Cons

if you are chosen to be "groomed" for advancement doesn't matter all the ways they try to measure your performance, they will still advance, have found tons of errors for some of the people they've (leaders) ... but the measurements work great to keep the rest of us out by legally covering the bases.

Lack of consistency with rules. Nepotism problems.

Pros

- Competitive salary and generous vacation time - Wonderful coworkers, people are willing to help and support each other - The company is very supportive of the employees' mental health - Technologically, very advanced company

Cons

- Nepotism and favoritism is a huge obstacle to grow. If you are not related to or you have not previously worked with a supervising manager your opportunities are nearly nonexistant. - It's very clear that the rules apply for certain people but not for others - Management enforces toxic positive attitude culture. There is no room for real talk even privately amongst coworkers. If you are not at least 'pretending' to be positive and extroverted you are likely not included in projects or career advancing programs. It's exhausting. - The performance metrics are poorly organized and highly subjective.

Pros

The stars definitely aligned to bring me to Devoted, and I couldn't be happier to be a part of this team. In addition to competitive compensation and benefits (including fully paid health benefits), there are 3 main things that drew me to this company: 1) Super compelling mission + strong culture. The executive leadership is inspirational, accessible and very effective. The company really cares about its employees, and I've been surprised at how good work/life balance is here. All levels of management really promote good self-care within their teams, and even more so during high-stress times. 2) Impressive caliber of talent - especially across engineering, data science, UX, product and operations. Tech teams are agile and free to develop their own processes, collaborate directly with business/ops stakeholders and have ownership over priorities and roadmapping. Not a lot of overhead process to worry about. Teams can really spend their time focusing on execution and delivering value. 3) Really interesting and challenging problems to work on. Changing healthcare is not easy - and there are tons of meaty projects to go really deep on. It's really clear how the work relates back to the mission, and how it has a meaningful impact on the overall business performance.

Cons

My least favorite part so far is that ALL communication happens on Slack, which can be really overwhelming and distracting. Other than that, there are the typical start-up pains that come with onboarding a ton of new hires, being fully remote, and growing super fast. Comes with the territory!
