Pros

I only recently joined Dexis Consulting and there are a few things I really like about the company. It seems young, dynamic, good energy, and very customer-oriented (which I like). I also really like that they seem to listen to their staff and understand that in this business if your staff are not happy, you are not going to grow.

Cons

A few things really bother me. First, the office arrangement at this point is far from ideal - the company is spread among multiple offices and while the efforts are underway to consolidate somewhat, until that happens working conditions are not that great. Second, the benefits are really not that awesome. The company 401 contributions are quite meager comparing to some of the established, older companies. Also, such things as providing parking for staff are considered standard in many companies. Dexis only offers tax-deductible commuter benefits which is pathetic given that the company is located downtown where parking is absurdly expensive.

We are really looking forward to moving to our new corporate office this summer. This will provide more space for staff and consolidate us from three corporate locations down to one, which will better enable us to support our project staff seated around the world and throughout Washington, DC. Plus, it’s just a fun, unique space! Dexis appreciates the feedback on how we can improve our benefit package. Every year we evaluate our benefits to ensure we are staying competitive with the market and providing the best options to our staff. While we recognize our benefits may not be as rich as those of some other organizations, we are always looking at ways to improve. In the past year we have added several enhancements to our benefits including increased paid time off, a generous paid maternity leave policy, and enhanced training benefit.

Pros

The people at Dexis are great. Folks are incredibly committed to what they do. And given the breadth and depth of our projects, are a really interesting group of people who have been all over the world doing amazing things. Performance is rewarded, professional development is supported, and mixing work and fun is encouraged. Hard work is the status quo.

Cons

Dexis is a growing, entrepreneurial company. Its culture doesn't always align with that of our government clients. Navigating the differences can be frustrating for project staff, since the company’s ideals don’t match their day-to-day reality. Expectations about the pace and unglamorous nature of our work have not always been clearly communicated to new hires.

Dexis prides itself on its entrepreneurial spirit and fostering an environment of ingenuity. And yes, part of the work is downright unglamorous. Communicating these expectations are something we can be sure to better incorporate into our interviewing process. We want to make sure all potential staff understand our core values of Ingenuity, Integrity, and Investment in People. Thank you for the positive feedback about our ability to adapt to the growth trajectory. It's the amazing and talented staff that is making it all possible.

Pros

I worked for Dexis for less than a year but was sad to leave. Dexis is a good place to work. The people are hardworking and intelligent but most importantly also nice. There is a positive culture to the place where people enjoy coming to work with one another each and it starts with the Senior Management Team all the way down. There is a cohesive strategy at Dexis related to its growth and new business as well that seems well-thought out, it is definitely a company on its way up in size and status as a USG contractor.

Cons

Dexis is moving from a smaller sized company to a mid-size/larger company and still working through it's flow downs to all its home office staff and especially it's field offices/projects-- which tend to be more recently implemented/awarded programs. Sometimes corporate policies are slow to be implemented, however when they do happen they seem to be well-thought out and cohesive.
