Pros

Awesome culture! Great people! Great environment! You want to work here.

Cons

Because they are private you don't know all the financial standings of the company, so that would be nice to know.

Understanding how the company is performing is critical and in our monthly all-hands company meetings we've opened up the books so employees can see the details behind our operations. Team members can see how we're doing on a daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly basis any time by accessing our internal sales stats system that's available to all employees. If someone has specific questions about financials, I'd encourage that they discuss it with their manager so that we can understand their specific question and be able to address it specifically.

Once they went corporate, the family feeling died.

Pros

It's a good company, great environment, and second-to-none customer service. Alas, I was there when it was a family company, and when they sold to an investment company, it became so much more corporate. More justification for costs, more cutting of perks.

Cons

There aren't really many challenges, other than things are the way they are because they're the way they are. Stop asking for change.

As you grow in size, you don’t always get to develop as close of relationships as you're used to. But it's exciting to see individual teams work on developing that type of feeling within their own groups. It’s exciting to see people host their own game nights, movie night, bowling outings, and service projects. That’s the spirit that we’ve always tried to develop at DigiCert. As we continue to grow we want our team members to feel like they can step up and take charge in helping develop that culture of a personal atmosphere. We want people to create that environment and not expect that it will be created for them. It’s the spirit of autonomy and accountability. The same goes for managing costs and delivering value to our customers. Managing profit margins is important for any company to remain in business, but it shouldn’t be a burden employees have to carry. What we want, though, is for all of our team members to learn to manage budgets and be fiscally responsible. Revenue, is an investment our customers make with us. We want our people to be responsible with the investment our customers make by choosing to work with us. Today, spending is dictated by what will deliver value and positively impact our employees and our customers. Some costs will be cut if they don’t deliver the value our customers and even our employees deserve. Things that positively impact customers and employees we will find more resources and invest in those more than we’ve done in the past. Other places where we see a positive effect we will spend even more than we’ve done before.
