The Successful Maturing of an Already Great Organization

Pros

amazingly smart people that are driven, passionate and just generally good people who care about making products and experiences that are elegant yet simple

Cons

the company is maturing and undergoing a lot of change with a new CEO at the helm, so the path isn't always 100% clear yet, but if you thrive in a place where you can create a bit of your own destiny and don't stress about change, then no problem!

One of the true tests of a strong culture is how much the values hold constant across organizational change. Because we are growing and scaling so quickly, change happens faster and more frequently than most companies. But maturation is a natural part of the process, and hopefully the best of our culture remains as we move out of our start-up phase. Your feedback is encouraging that it will. We've worked hard to make an inclusive environment, and are proud of where we've made strides in increasing diversity across the organization. You are correct that we need to do much, much better in this areas at the leadership level if we're going to effectively compete both for talent and as a business. It's an area of focus for us so please hold us accountable in this area.

Growing, but awesome

Pros

Smart people. Great lower+mid-level management. Extremely excellent remote culture. Awesome market and customers. Get to work on fun/hard problems at scale. Pays well. Great opportunities for advancement.

Cons

Upper management hasn't been very stable, but that's not really a negative, just "not awesome". The company is growing too, and that automatically means things change. As far as I've seen, it's usually for the better, but I understand earlier employees feeling like things are wildly different now.

We are indeed awesome. Thank you for the feedback. I especially appreciate the insights on our managers -- we invest a lot in making sure they are supporting and developing their teams to the fullest of their potential, and it's great to see that's paying off. Please keep sharing feedback so that we remain at current levels of awesomeness!

Pros

- Best remote culture of any company out there - Managers give you the tools to succeed and empower you to make decisions - Everyone is super friendly and helpful, and people truly enjoy working here - Minimal meetings - Diverse culture

Cons

- Meeting times can get tricky with teams being so timezone distributed - Slack can be noisy with all the team channels and interest group channels

Thanks for the great feedback. We see our distributed model as a competitive talent advantage and I'm glad the experience is working for you. And I hear you on Slack - we'll work on better separating the signal from the noise (except for the #puns channel. That's obviously amazing).
