Pros

The discount tire is a good company to work for, if you don't feel like going to school, because they pay really well. There are benefits and you do get over time so you make about as much as anyone would at their first entry level job. If you have a really good crew then the days go by fast and you can typically get out not to far past close.

Cons

The hours, I don't know about other discount stores but the one I worked at was understaffed. As a part time worker I worked about 45 hours each week. Another issue is that closing time isn't always closing, even though we close at 6 pm sometimes I would still be changing tires till 9 pm simply because they can't tell people to leave.

Pros

Discount Tire pays really well, though you do work hard for your money. I've worked at 3 different locations in 2 different states and I have thoroughly enjoyed each store. The guys you work with are (for the most part) dedicated, hardworking guys that care about what they do. This job keeps you active and in shape since you're constantly working with heavy objects. Discount Tire also is extremely flexible with working around the employees' schedules. I'm a full time student and I can schedule my hours around my class schedule, and asking for time off is very easy. I've met some of my best friends working at Discount Tire, it really is a great place to work.

Cons

There's not much I would complain about. Sometimes it sucks when the cars pile up and and you have to work really hard and really fast. Occasionally some managers can be very strict about things, but that comes with working any kind of job.

Great at first, but....

Pros

Office culture was great at first, but many of the long tenured employees resent employees coming in from the outside.

Cons

Again was very disappointed with the political nature and underhanded tactics happening within this organization by some of the long tenured employees.
