Nice people but too much group think

Pros

Friendly place for a company that big. Often remarked by staff how Dolby pays well. Very flexible in the way you want to work and relaxed atmosphere. You can get comfortable there.

Cons

Very headquarters-centric. Too much group think. Hierarchical and siloed. Lateral movement is about who you know, not what you can contribute. Some things are done to exceed industry standards while some things are done in nonsensical ways that defy logic! Also, stock price is highly volatile last few years, so company tightened the belt to defend it better, while investing in new opportunities that are yet to succeed and remains to be seen if they will.

Pros

Decent pay. Not much else to say, unfortunately.

Cons

Poor leadership at the executive and senior level. No vision. Poor decisions. Very political. Too many competing stakeholders in decision making processes. Everything moves painfully slowly. Overall, totally ineffective organization.
