Pros

The people at the corporate office are great. Everyone is trying to do their best on a very lean staff.

Cons

New CEO has come in and taken away all of the fun, engaging activities and changed operating priorities without communicating the change. The company seems to be shifting away from "Serving Others" and only focused on how much money the company is making. Work life balance is awful; too much work and not enough people. Reducing in force has only made it worse. Opportunities for growth are limited for those with long tenure. It seems that only newer employees are given opportunities to move to new positions and grow with the company.

Pros

Love my relationships with my customers. I have a little bit of ocd so love to have places filled with correct product and make sure coolers arebfilled every night along with drink wall. I make sure to have stuff customers have requested to be in the coolers available for them at all times not only because of them but also because those products sell quickly to others also. The only think that keeps me where iam is my customers for now.

Cons

The pay is not great. Not being appreciated for the hard work and effort put into what I do. Iam not a cocky person but I definitely deserve better pay then what I have settled for. I love my manager but when I have to feel like iam walking on eggshells at work when I step in the door or even scared to talk to her about anything iam having issues with... That's when its a problem for me. Which is why I have this site now. I have now also been closing the store every night now for the past 5 weeks I do not get to see my daughter at all but 30 min in the morning to bring her to day care which iam having help funded by familys first. So if I was to not bring her to school a few day in order to spend time with her thru would assume I don't apply or need the assistance so they would stop helping me. I can't live off the pay with this job and be able to support me and my daughter on my own plus find a sitter for the every night I close. I did not sign up to be the closing key holder every night and don't get me wrong I don't mind closing but when iam doing it every night to where iam missing out on my child that's when it becomes not okay for me. Also i would love to learn how to be a merchandiser and the one company I had applied to which was drive line was the only one who had called me for a job offer and they stated that the DG was the only company they couldn't hire people from. So not only are they holding me back from my full potential but they are now hindering my potential career goals.

Pros

Met a lot of great and dedicated people who put their heart and soul into working for the company (but received nothing in return)

Cons

They are a money hungry company, no longer cared for their employees. Worked people to the bone without a thank you! Got rid of "seasoned" employees to bring in people out of college. Didn't care for store level employees.
