Pros

Average to above average salary. Good advancement opportunities for those that excel. Reliable employment with relatively low chance of being laid off. Plenty of overtime. Annual bonus depending on company performance. Benefits are above average.

Cons

Shift work. Plenty of overtime if you are not interested in the extra money. IT is a low priority for the company and the quality of computers and systems reflect it. Traditional management style in my office that is resistant to improve or change. This is not true with the younger generation of managers and supervisors that are coming up.

Lots of opportunity, great training programs, growth oriented, always looking towards the future and anticipating trends. Very good leadership overall. Can be a lot of fun with new things to learn all the time.

Cons

As a regulated utility, there can be some politics involved, and change can sometimes be a little slow to affect, and some changes can be foisted by the politics of the day.
