Pros
Donor Development Strategies is a great place to be if you are fresh out of college, want full-time work + benefits ( PTO, Healthcare, Dental... etc.) and and individual motivated by competitive pay. The culture is inviting; the people who I had the opportunity to canvas with were super sweet, nice and inclusive. The flexibility of the job and ability to make up missed days on the weekend is an amazing opportunity to have for anyone who also does freelance work as well.
Cons
HOWEVER, if you are a POC I would STRONGLY advise you against taking this position; going door to door at NIGHT in low lit neighborhoods ALONE, especially during the holiday season , leaves you vulnerable to how an unpredictable home owner may react to your presence. Fortunately, in my experience no harm or fowl language was thrown my way; I was advised politely, yet firmly " Do not go walking around this neighborhood at night knocking on doors, for your own safety." But, I was also told of some less polite, but more firm forms of the same statement with more racial slurs thrown in.
