Pros

The company does a great job selecting their employees, so that allows for good atmosphere, loved the people I worked with, they all help each other out. I believe it has to do with the selection and not that they're happy there. Good benefits .

Cons

The pay is awful! They have a system to pay their drivers that it's just confusing (how convenient) you work really hard for what you make...example: you would have 39 pallets (double stacked) in one trailer, you have 3-5 stops, these 39 pallets brake into 120-150 pallets. A lumper service wouldn't touch that load for less than $750.00 ( I asked ) the company would pay me $110.00 or so plus .30 per mile, which by the way you can only drive around 1000 to 1500 miles due to spending 8-10 hours at the docks unloading. So the benefits I mentioned above, they're great but in the end the employee pays for them by being compensated what's fair. They brag about being one of the riches family own companies in the nation, but what does that mean for the employee?

Pros

Because of eLogs they cannot work you to death. Benefits are good. There is variety in routing if you want. Use to be a great company with good pay. But pay is falling behind

Cons

Steadily dropping pay. Management cares more about the warehouse than its drivers. We are working longer for less. Communication is terrible across the board!! It is not uncommon to go to another DC and find out that they did not know you were coming!? Home time has been on the decline. Some of our customers can be abusive and DOT will no longer go to bat for us.

good starter company for drivers

Pros

If you are a driver right out of school, this is the company to work for. I can not think of any truck companies out there that would hire a student driver and pay them 55k a year. That is what you would make in the first year. They have an excellent training program. You will learn good driving skills.

Cons

You throw freight!! The pay scale is structured so the only way you can make real money is to throw their freight. the mileage pay is garbage. And it is hard grueling work. The best thing to do is work for them for the first 6 months out of truck school. you'll make 26-28k in that 6 months. Your body will hurt though. After 6 months apply to non freight throwing companies where the pay is more structured to miles and driving. After 6 months many companies will hire you at higher rates to even out the gap between dot and real trucking wages.
