      Great Company to work for IN THE PAST. Andy Liveris destroyed the culture and great values that existed for 100+ years

      Pros

      Plenty of opportunities if you work hard. Unfortunately, you will have to stay in one place for many years to be considered for promotion. Great company to learn, develop skills ..... then move to other company for better jobs and promotion.

      Cons

      Mr. Liveris (BOD chairman, CEO and President) and his staff manages the company at his own pace. No chance for the company to move ahead in the chemical industry as far as he is in there. Constant people change at top levels and multiple 'blue prints' changes make your work difficult and less stable. Every five years the management is in panic and let people go in bunches.

      Pros

      I had a position within Dow Chemical where I gained experience across multiple business units, including areas where I was not knowledgeable before the assignment. My supervisors understood my background and knowledge, and gave me ample time to come up-to-speed.

      Cons

      When living and working in Midland, MI, expect a much lower salary than you might see in major metropolitan areas, especially at more junior positions and roles. Likewise, Midland is very much a "company town" where you cannot avoid your colleagues if you try.

      Pros

      -Compensation and benefits -Career development opportunities -Work-life balance -High-caliber and friendly employees -Good to excellent middle-managemers.

      Cons

      -Indiscriminate multi-year pay increase and promotion freeze in a country where a large wave of young people was hired to compensate for the retirement of a large wave of professionals. Experienced employees with a more stable career didn't mind all that much but younger professionals who were led to expect more reward from their successes and faster growth were disappointed.
