Plenty of career opportunities; good pay & ben; business cyclicality makes things challenging
Pros
Dow is a 'promote from within' company that offers a variety of career opportunities. My experience (compared to colleagues at other large companies) has been that you get more responsibility earlier in your career here. Total pay and benefits (salary, bonus, pension, 401, stock purchase plan, vacation days) is very strong. Commute to work is incredibly short, which adds family time (since Dow is not located in large urban areas). Strong safety culture. Sustainability highly valued.
Cons
Business cyclicality has resulted in frequent strict spending constraints, often leading to workforce downsizing. Dow locations typically not near urban centers, so not too close to large city amenities (pro sports venues, 5* dining, trendy shopping). Culture can be a little too "Mid-west nice," where confronting poor performance (particularly at the director and executive level) does not happen.
