      Pros

      Co-workers are excellent. There are many job opportunities, and supervisors work to develop employees for their specific development path. Large sites.

      Cons

      The locations are remote and isolated except for Plaquemine. Many new facilities are being built outside the United States, so the future may be uncertain for U.S. manufacturing.

      * Excellent work environment (people) *Relatively flexible (depends on who you report to) *Good pay

      Cons

      * As others have stated there is a "its who you know, not what you know" mentality. However I feel some postings have overstressed this and the comment on Dow being a "global matrix and network" is more accurate. It is a large company networking is expected.

      Pros

      Dow is a well-structured company. Shift from basic chemicals to specialty means less cyclical profits and employment. Very concerned about safety.

      Cons

      Too old and big for it's own good. The policies and procedures on projects became useless formalities that chewed up several people's time and drive. Progress is slowed by paperwork and waiting on so many other people to get things done. Massive layoffs, 10% and then another 5% worldwide, when Dow over-extended their credit in jont venture with Kuwait oil co. and Rohm and Haas buyout.
